The total grant fund amounted to 24 million rubles. Three scientific organizations participated in the selection of projects: the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, the Northern State Medical University and the Federal Research Center for the Integrated Study of the Arctic named after Academician N. P. Laverov of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the press service of the Regional Government, a total of 29 applications worth over 105 million rubles were submitted for the competition. The Expert Council selected nine projects from various fields of scientific activity.

Among the projects of NARFU that became winners, — "Technology for creating highly productive feed based on ecoprotein for aquafarm farms of the Arkhangelsk region", "Complex processing of Arctic animal resources on the example of reindeer", within which the technology for obtaining semi-finished fur and collagen from the skins of adult reindeer will be worked out, "Innovative approaches to design and restoration at the objects of architectural cultural heritage of the Arkhangelsk region" and "Study of the operation of heat generating plants during the combustion of various types of biofuels in order to determine the effectiveness of their use in the conditions of the European North of Russia".

— The competition was announced this summer and was held for the first time, — says Marat Yeseev, Vice-rector for Innovative Development and scientific director of the world—class REC "Russian Arctic", - These projects, and all the other winners of the competition, correlate with the activities of the scientific and educational center "Russian Arctic: new materials technologies and research methods". All projects are aimed at strengthening the REC program through regional support. The projects of NARFU are diverse — the works of scientists from the Higher School of Natural Sciences and Technology, the Higher School of Engineering, the Higher School of Energy, Oil and Gas are presented. The work in these areas at the university has been carried out for a long time and successfully, which is confirmed by the high scores of the jury. The most important result should be the technologies developed and introduced into production in order to commercialize scientific research.
